You can also go for weight training. Stressing your muscle fibers through weight training is the best and most efficient way for you to gain muscle mass. Free weights are the best for this as they force everything to work simultaneously. For those with quite a little muscle mass, a machine can also aid them to gain more of it. There will come a time that they should move to free and cable weights after some time, due to the fact that similar repetitive motions can leave your body too used to the exercise, getting you stuck on some kind of a plateau.
Keep in mind that weight gain is not impossible, although it could be just as hard as losing weight for some people. As one of the tips on how to gain weight healthily, what you need to do is stick to a schedule and plan out that schedule both scientifically and logically.
